Instrument scan: hold heading and altitude · 2 to 4 min
Instrument flying
How it works
- You fly on instruments only and ATC gives you four instructions.
- Roll to turn and hold the altitude with the nose. In a turn the nose must come up a little, or you sink.
- An instruction is done when you stay within 5° of the heading and 100 ft of the altitude for 5 seconds, wings level.
- Scan around: attitude, altimeter, heading, VSI. Faster and tidier earns more points.
